Maggie's teeth have always been pretty white, she is not a real big fan of it though.  When I get out the toothpaste she takes off running Roll Eyes

Bella has the chicken toothpaste and absolutely loves it, although she doesn't care for the tooth brush.

I was told that if you get the enzymatic toothpaste the brushing isn't necessary, the toothpaste mixes with the enzymes in the mouth and cleans sort of like peroxide. Not sure how true it is, I still use the toothbrush just incase Roll Eyes

I don't think Pudge's previous owners had ever brushed his teeth, cause they're not soo pretty but they are definately better now then before.

But, I brush them when I give him a bath, and I use the doggy toothbrush.  I broke it in half though, cause it was too big.  I've tried the finger brush, but it would just get a hold of it and so it didn't work to well.  With toothbrush, since I broke the handle in half, I have a better control over it.  And I use beef flavored toothpaste as well, he loves it.  =)

I also use Oxyfresh that I got from my vet, that I add to his water.  It helps with keeping teeth and gums healthy as well as helping with his breath!  I've been using it for a few months now, and I've noticed a big difference.  His teeth no longer has any tartar build up like before, and his breath does smell better.  =)

I am glad you mentioned that!  I just saw that a couple of weeks ago and I wondered if it would work. Thanks!

You're welcome!  I was a bit skeptical at first, because I'd never added anything to my pet's water.  But all it takes is a 1/2 capfull to every gallon.  So I just bought a small water jug where I pre-mix it and keep it in the fridge.  Pudge likes cold water anyhow, so it makes it easy.  But I've seriously noticed a big difference since I've been using it, and his teeth and gums are so much healthier now.  And he used to get tartar buildup, and now it's pretty much gone.  And he used to have very sensitive gums that bleeds a little bit when he chews on his toys, and now that's gone as well.  So I love the stuff!

Also, you can buy it direct from their website, http://oxyfresh.com/pet/default.asp which is much cheaper.  Because my vet charged me $24 for 16oz bottle, and it's only $13.50 from their website.  So I'll definately be ordering it online when I run out.
