Oh man I had to deal with the same thing up until a couple months ago with my 13 month old.  He NEVER pooped outside!!!!
I just started watching him like a hawk because if I would leave him in a room alone he would poop.  It seemed like even when I left him inside for a minute he would go.
If you can try and figure out when he usually goes (like 1 hour after he eats etc) you may be able to get him outside before he goes in the house.  Sometimes walking them around makes them have to poo.
I'm sure others will have some good advice.

Try taking him for a walk at a consistent time each day (be sure to bring your baggies  Cheesy).  He'll likely decide that he needs to leave a deposit on someone else's yard.  There is something about walking that really does seem to get them "in the mood" so to speak.

Lumpy's Mom!

I would suggest keeping Rambo on a leash that is connected to you whenever he is out in the house and you are home. That way, there will be no surprises on the floor! When he starts to go potty, RUN with him outside and tell him to "go potty". When he finishes tell him what a good boy he is and make a HUGE deal out of it. Give him a treat, also. He will start to associate it with good things (food and praise). When you are not at home, I suggest keeping him in a kennel. Most dogs learn very quickly not to go potty in their kennel. Then, you can let him outside when you get home and do the above things.
Good luck!

BULLY Momma to Mabel

« Reply #5 on: July 28, 2004, 05:30:48 PM »

Max was always one that if left alone he will leave you presents.  We now make him stay in the same room as us and if he gets up we take him outside. Same at night. He sleeps on the bed at my feet and if he moves to get down up we (okay up Glen) goes to let him outside.  He was a good boy once we started this practice.

He keeps going at different times so we cant catch him in the act!

Rambo goes out frequently throughout the day (Were lucky cos Im a stay at home Mom so hes not alone for too long in the day) and Im keeping him out for our walks longer (which is hard because he'll drag me over to the door to come back inside).

Brumzoo:Thanks for the lesh  inside suggestion.Im going try that and Buddylovers suggestion.

I think if Im more consistant about staying on top of  Rambo i can stop it before he starts!
