I was told at work a few days ago that pumpkin pie filling(the pure - pumpkin only stuff) is a great cure for doggy diarrhea!!

I have been feeding Leo 2 tablespoons of it with his kibble for the last few nights and it has really made quite a difference! (We were unable to gradually switch his food because what the breeder was feeding Leo isn't available here in Canada)

His poop is definately more solid now, it seems to make a difference in a little as 24 hours! I am going to feed it to him for a few more days and then gradually phase it out.

Has anyone tried this before?? I am quite impressed!!

Lori.

I have not tried it, but that is the advice that the vets I work for give. I am glad that it is working! How is everything with the newest member of your family?

Lori - I'm glad the pumkin is working.  I fed it to Buddy for about six months.  It works wonders!  They seem to really like it too.  I hope Little Leo's tummy gets better and he's able to adjust quickly to the new food Cheesy

We've also fed that a time or too and has worked well.

I noticed after I posted that it was recommended in another topic, also!
Seems like it's common knowledge to most!

Things are going really well, but he has more energy than I could have ever imagined!!
The one night we didn't take him for a walk he ended up racing around the living room at 12:30am chasing after his squeaky toy!!  I had to take him outide and throw a tennis ball for him till 1:00am before he finally flopped down exhausted!! Now we take him to the park every night!!

Well, I have given Leo the last of the pumpkin today.. we figured we might as well use the whole can, since he likes it so much! He always gets pumpkin all over his nose! It's funny!  Anyway I'll have to see over the weekend if things stay "solid"!! Smiley

Actually things went really well until last weekend when we took him camping! He ate lots of sticks so I think that maybe is what caused the diarrhea to come back. We bought another can of pumpkin though and he is doing much better again!
