oh...well....where to begin....LOL

Because of Magoo, Jim and I are completely smitten with the breed  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

I don't have time to do a huge post right now, but you should consider that they have the strength of an American Bulldog and the stubborness of a Bulldog.  Depending on what you like in a dog, you could think that is a terrible thing or a great thing!  Grin

But, there are HUGE differences within their breed.  There have been up to 50lb weight differences between various Oldes that I've seen.  (there's all sorts of snobbery about different bloodlines and what they should look like ...blah blah blah Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes)

Wembers was a beligerent, huge dog and therefore a lot of work, but from what I've seen of Dave's posts, Boomer seems like such a great mellow dog  Smiley

I'm convinced now that some of Magoo's "outbursts" came from pain, but we are also to blame as I don't think we were disciplined enough in his training to begin with and then later I always felt too sorry for him, to keep it up  Undecided Undecided Undecided

Most (responsible) Olde breeders will stress the importance of obedience training to begin almost immediately as they really need to be under control.  They can appear pretty scarey coming at you...(if you don't realise that they are only running up to you to get some loving!  Grin)

Personally I think they are the most beautiful dogs in the world now...but then I'm biased!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
This sounds crazy, but people used to pull their cars over to the side of the road to stop to meet Wembley!  I swear that happened more than a couple of times.  It was crazy....noone could resist him!  Smiley Smiley

Oh, also, there can be huge differences in how they look.  Some are very Bullyish, and others look just like an American Bulldog.

You also might want to look into local and state laws in your area.  I've stated on here before that Wembley would have had to be muzzled to walk in public in Boston as he would likely be lumped into American bulldog "type" dog.  And also remember that there is a small amount of Pitbull Terrier in their original heritage.  If your state has BSL's beware of the word "type" as many dogs can be lumped into a certain category.

Ok.....so much for not posting much ..  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I hope some of that has helped.  Kiss

Oh....Jim just reminded me....As Oldes are becoming popular now....so are the crap breeders popping up all over the place...so...yanno....beware!  Smiley

Here are a couple pics of Daisy and Haley (our friends puppy) Haley is an Olde English Bulldog. Her legs are a lot longer than Daisy and Bosco's and she does not seem to have a wrinkled face. To me her face looks more like a boxer, But that is just my opinion. I have also heard that they do not tend to have the health problems that English bulldogs have.

Not sure if it was much information but I could not pass up the opportunity to share a photo! LOL

I just love this guys OEB's.

He doesn't have the best website in the world, but you can tell he has a genuine love of the breed.
