Well, I've decided to finally get myself a bullie, after a few months of research and learning a lot about the breed.  I found a couple of very reputable breeders that have puppies available, I'm still waiting for information from one of them but yesterday I got some pictures from the other one.

He has two puppies left (they were 6 originally), they're both males and are about 5 weeks old, I will also include some pics he sent me of their father, their grandfathers and one of their brothers from a different litter.

I like the darker one, but I'm not sure about the black mask he has, it's not what I had in mind initially, what do you guys think?

This is the brother I told you about, I think that the darker puppy should end up looking similar to him.

They're both really cute  Kiss  Kiss  Beautiful sire and brother  Wink  Smiley

I personally look at the color of the pup very last !!

First I look at the puppy for temperament (no shy puppies), then I will compare the pups for the one that is closest to standard. Also a big thing I look at is the tail, if they have a very tight tail as a puppy it will only be a pain to clean as they age and might even get worse as they get older !!! Make sure eyes are wide and not runny or irritated by eye lashes !! Make sure nares (nostrils) are wide and air passes through nicely !!
There's so much to look for in a puppy other than the color.

After looking at all those features (plus !!) and you still have a decision to make then I compare color of coat !!
I personally like dogs that have more white on them to make them look a little more flashy !!

Which ever pup you choose I wish the best of luck !!!

Keep us updated, I would love to see pictures of your new baby  Wink  Smiley

Great advice Carrie Grin  Do you know the line history of the parents as far as health wise?  Also just some simple questions that some people tend to overlook, are they AKC registered?  Is the breeder near you where you can go and look at the home and meet the parents and the puppies?

  Thanks for the replies  Grin.

Maggpie: they suposedly come from a very healthy line of bullies, most of them show dogs with quite a few wins. About the AKC, here's the deal, I don't live in the US, I'm in Venezuela; here the local canine association requieres that you notify when the mating takes place (before the pups are born) in order to be able to register the dogs when they are finally born, in this case the mating took place in December and the owner was busy with some personal problems so he wasn't able to register it, both parents are registered and have pedigrees but the pups are not registered so technically they don't have it, even though they come from 100% pure bulldog bloodlines.

This breeder was referred to me by another breeder who is one of the most reputable in the country, who also happens to be the president of canine association in his state and usually competes in shows against dogs from the breeder he referred me too, so even though I don't personally know him, he comes very highly recomended and I have no reason to doubt the lineage of the puppies, although you can never be 100% sure.

The breeder is located about 2 hours from where I live so I could(and will) definately go and check the puppies out in person if I decide to get one. The parents live there as well (at least the dam, not sure about the sire).

Here's another pic he sent me today, notice the black spot at the end of his tail, is that within the standard?

Oh, I forgot you were in Venezuela Roll Eyes    I think both pups are gorgeous.  I would go with whomever you feel most comfortable with.  This is a lifetime commitment and the breeder is someone you will be needing to be very comfortable with because they are the ones that are going to be there for you when you have problems, questions, etc.

I always think that the relationship between the breeder and the new parent is extremely important.  As far as the tail ----- CUTE Grin Kiss  I do not know much about standards in tails.  Put it looks like sine it is not tight to the body, tail pocket issues should be a minimum if any.  My Maggie does not have a tail pocket at all though, and her tail is close to her body - so I think it all depends on the individual dogs as well. You can check www.akc.org for information on the Bulldog standard.

I don't think color of the tail makes a difference from a conformation standpoint.  I would be more concerned with getting a pup with a good head, broad chest, and sound movement.  Temperament is also something to consider.  There are several people on this board who show, so hopefully they can help!

*UPDATE*

Well, I went there today,I had a great time. The breeder(Rafael) first showed me the sire (Dosty), beautiful animal, he also showed me his trophy room which is full of Dusty's trophies and ribbons, he has won many national competitions, as well as international ones. Then we went outside where he had the puppies and he also showed me the dam, she was cute too, all white with a red patch over her left eye, after greeting her I finally got to meet my future pup, he was so cute, he was with his brother in a small basket, they had just eaten so they were not moving very much at first, but that changed a few minutes later.

After petting the puppies for a while he asked his helper to bring out Chief, he's the brother of the puppies but from a different litter, he's gorgeous, only a year old so he hasn't been able to compete yet (he has to be at least 15 months according to a new rule), Rafael told me that my puppy should look very similar to him as far as proportion and coat color goes. He also showed me a new dog he had just brought from the US, a beautiful red/brindle and white bullie, but I didn't take pics of him  Undecided

Well, my puppy is now on hold for me and I will be able to pick him up in two weeks, I'm so happy  Grin Cheesy Grin .

  Here are some pics:

The Sire

The Dam

The Older Brother

The baby brother

And now what you've all been waiting for, I present to you, Manolito the bullie (yes, that's what I'm calling him  Grin )

And last but not least, one of me and Manny Grin :

I hope you liked the pics.
