Complacency is the enemy of progress!

Hello!....I have a question for everyone. Dozer and Angel have just recently started sucking on a toy. When they do this it's almost as if they are getting milk from the mother. Has anyone had their dog do this? Is it harmless or should they be corrected? Dozer will actually whine sometimes when he's doing it. Angel just tries to suck the life out of it......I should also mention, these sucking periods can go on for up to 30 minutes. Any responses will be appreciated.

You who think you know it all are very annoying to those of us who do.

Hi David!

I've read that LOTS of bullies do this, however, Grover does not so I can't speak from personal experience.

My parents' lab does it all the time.  And I know Sue B's Opal does it.   Grin  It's a very calming thing, I think.

I kinda wish Grover would because we wouldn't got thru toys so darn quickly!

I was really starting to wonder about that. I'm glad to hear there are others who do it too.

Have a wonderful day!

I have had a few of our rescue bullies do this.  I don't think it is detrimental to them so I don't discourage them.  It is actually funny to watch them-it has almost a calming affect.

I would answer you but I can't hear the question over the sound of Zeus sucking on his squeaky ball!  LOL

To answer you, our Bullie does it almost anytime he gets ahold of his ball. He'll suck on it like he's trying to pull the carpet clean through it!! After about a 1/2 an hour he's either ready to play again or sound asleep with the ball still in his mouth.

Since he seems quite content and our vet says it's ok.. hey as long as he's happy.. suck on bulldog!
