Coming into Heat ?????

Hey guys.....
 Sarah isn't fixed and we were told by her previous mom and dad that she would be due to come into  a heat in  April.... Well Sarah's Vag is huge and I think its just naturally large... So we have been waiting for her to come into heat so we can get diapers and what have you.... She has been sitting on the floor and humping the rug, and today I noticed a raunchy smell coming from her bottom.... I thought it was her tail but I clean that every other day so I looked closer and there was some yellowish dishcharge coming from her vag....  Does this mean she is coming into heat?  She has been acting odd as well as the humping the rug while sitting she is panting all the time when in bed with us. Like she will wake up at 2 am and just start to pant and the temp is nice and cool in the room .... We are going to be getting her fixed but I'm thinking this is her coming into heat now... Opinions? ....... Is she?

I have no clue, but from what you are describing it sure sounds like it to me   What did your vet say about it?   Anything?

Tosha, if she is in heat you will see blood droplets in the house.  That is the best indication that she is in heat.  There is a foul odor that can accompany the heat cycle also, but what you are describing sounds like she might have a staph infection (yellow discharge).  I would have the vet do a vaginal smear to check for bacteria.

As for spaying her, I would let the vet confirm whether she is in heat or not.  If she is in heat, I would suggest waiting until completion of the heat cycle to spay her.  The heat cycle generally lasts about 3 weeks.  Hope this helps!

I don't want to scare you, but it could be pyometra. I would have her checked by a vet ASAP as pyometra can be life threatening.

HEY GUY'S....
 My little Sarah got her period..... She is bleeding now little drops. Can anyone recommend a good diaper for me? Brand etc... She has a little nub for a tail so I'm kinda confused as to hot to keep them up...

We get the denim diapers from Petsmart.  You can put a regular maxi-pad in it to absorb the blood.  Kid's suspenders work well to keep them on.
