I got this off of the Havahart.com site:

First Aid Kit for Your Pet

Keeping a first aid kit in your home is as important for your pet as it is for the rest of your family. Please keep the following PET SAFETY items in a convenient place in your home. (And remember to always keep them out of reach of children.)

Absorbent cotton- to help stop bleeding

Non-stinging iodine solution (dilute with water) to cleanse wounds

Medical tape- to use as a bandage adhesive

Gauze bandage rolls- can be used on wounds and also as an emergency leash

Sharp scissors with rounded safety tips

Tweezers- to remove thorns, splinters and ticks

Antihistamine for insect bites

First aid ointment

Cotton swabs- to cleanse your pet's ears or to apply ointment (A word of advice from me, NEVER stick Q-tips in your dog's ears. Use cotton balls or gauze.)

An extra collar with tags and leash

An extra copy of your pets medical records

Photos of your pet (in case they get lost)

Your veterinarian's name, address, phone number and emergency hours
Please remember that first aid performed on your pet at home is not a substitute for a professional veterinarian.

This is a great checklist Trish.  There are a few things I need to pick up that I didn't even think about.
