I love my Boo Bear!!!

WWW
« on: October 04, 2004, 09:18:21 AM »

Maggie's been limping the past two days and today she wont walk on her front foot.  My parents inspected every area on her paw and do not see anything different with her paw so they are worried it may be something else.  They are trying to get her in today for xrays.
Please send good thoughts that it's something small that just needs time to heal and that she's not in pain.  She's my parents baby Smiley

Poor Maggie.   Sad

We'll definitely be thinking of her today.  Please let us know when you find out anything.  Hopefully it's just a sprain or something that will heal quickly.

Thanks James.  My Mom has an appointment at 1 today so I'll let you know what I hear.  They wanted to see her today since it's gotten worse and not better since yesterday.

Oh thank you Cheesy
My Mom is so happy she brought her in because she was in a panic this morning thinking it was something bad.  It turns out it's arthritis (I have no idea how to spel).  They think she probably hurt it jumping out of the car or off of something.  It could be bruised.  They're going to have a bone specialist look at it tomorrow.  She is on dermaxx for the pain since she can't walk without shaking.  Poor baby.  You know she is getting the best possible care though Grin

I'm so happy that it is nothing too serious. I know that she is getting the best care possible. She is one lucky girl! We don't use Deramaxx down here very often. Rimadyl is the drug of choice. Godiva is on it daily.  I'll have to find out about Deramaxx, but I do know that if dogs are on Rimadyl they have to have their bloodwork checked every six months.

I got the dermaxx when Zoe torn her acl.  It worked really well because she as able to walk when she was on it.  My Mom told the vet I had some left over (it doesn't expire until next year) and he said it was fine to give it to Maggie.  They only get 50mg per day.

It's available here and we do special order it for one client, but for some reason the vets prefer Rimadyl. I'll have to ask and find out why. I haven't heard anything bad about Deramaxx.

Thanks Trish.  I know the bulldog vet gave it to me when I brought Zoe in because it was a sample and he does all the rescues visits for free and tries to give samples for meds to save on that cost too.

He really is amazing.  He loves bulldogs and he's always doing free services for the Humane Society and all sorts of rescue groups.  Did I tell you his house is connected to the office and he has webcam in his house so he can check on the animals who've had surgery all night?!  His wife is a vet too so they own the pratice together.  I feel so fortionate to have such a great vet so close.

Kiss Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for Maggie!  She was better today, but the anti-inflamatory really knocked her out last night.  Lissa and I were debating if we should take her outside and within 2-3 minutes her eyes closed and she just sort of fell over and started snoring.  We are so attached to her now, I really was nervous for her.
