Manolito is exactly 5 months old today, he is fairly obedient (for bullie standards) and his potty training went fairly well, it took him less than a month to learn where he was supposed to go; but when we leave him alone in the kitchen, which is the place he stays when we leave him alone in the house, he sometimes gets mad and pees/poos in exactly the same spot, next to one of the doors.

When he's throwing a tantrum he usually sits next to the door that has the baby gate and starts whining (he makes the most baby like dog sounds I have ever heard coming from a dog btw) and the worst part is that he sometimes pees in front of that gate and then makes a mess of himself because he sits on it, it doesn't happen often but it's very annoying because I have to clean the floor and then I have to clean him up.

And he knows where he is supposed to go potty, even if I take him someplace else all I have to do is put some newspapers on the floor and tell him that's his toilet, he's just doing this to get back at us for leaving him alone I guess.

What can I do to correct this behavior? he usually just pees in front of the door (not the baby gate) and you just find the puddle when you get home, he doesn't do the pee/sit on it/make a mess combo frequently thank god.

Sorry you're having bathroom problems with Manolito  Undecided  That's no fun.

We have Bailey basically housebroken, too, but she consistently pees in her crate at night for some reason, and no UTI.  Our vet suggested we make the crate smaller (just enough space for her to be able to lay down and stand up and turn around and NO BEDDING.  The look on my face when she said those things must have been pretty shocked, because she said "hey, this is tough love time."

Anyway, it's worked for the most part, though not every time.  We're still trying to figure it out to get her to 100%.  Good luck, and let me know if you find something that actually works!

YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BULLDOG TO UNDERSTAND...

Though he learned quite young to go in the "right area"...I think he still may be a bit young to expect accuracy. Just continue to show him where he's to go...And give rewards when done in the correct area. And when the deed ends up in front of the gate or other areas that it don't belong. I think going back to the beginning and re-training would be wise. At 5 mths...I can't see them not making mistakes...And as they get older they'll outgrow this...Just time and continued consistency... Wink...Eventually you'll be sitting back and this will be a thing of the past.

Ditto that.  At 5 months, puppies will make mistakes, period.  I've had dogs that take well over a year to totally potty train completely.  Sure, they know where to go, but it's not quite driven in yet that it has to happen there every single time.
My rottie was trailed to go on command, but it took literally years for him to get it right.  Thats great by the way... Grin

Yes, I am aware that he is only 5 months old and that accidents will still happen, but I still think he does it in that spot on purpose, I don't punish him (verbally) unless I catch him in the act and even then Ill just say "NO!" and take him to the right spot (which is not anywhere near that doorway btw).

I guess Ill just keep rewarding him when I leave him alone and  he doesn't make a mess, regardless of that issue, I'm thankful that he has learned so quickly, he has been sleeping in my room since he was 3 months old and he hasn't had any accidents, before that I used to crate him during the night but I hated getting up during the night to let him out to do his business, so I gave him the chance of sleeping out of his crate and it has worked great for both of us.

Porkchop is 6 months old, she is doing great on her training as well.  But, just when we think she's doing well..... BAM!  URG.  You wanna yell, but when you start doing that, they start looking for places to "hide" it...Kinda hard to hide THAT smell if you know what I mean... Undecided
Manolito can't make it through the night without an accident, even while in a crate?  I know you said you have been trying to not crate, but maybe it's just too early.  Don't know, just suggesting.  Hope all goes well.

No,no, during the night we have no problems at all, he hasn't had any accidents yet (he's been sleeping outside his crate for almost 2 months now). The problem is when I leave him alone in the kitchen for a long period of time.
