I can never look when I am on the receiving end of a needle, but it is not hard for me to be on the giving end!   Wink
Just try to be the best phlebotomist that there is and it won't be so bad. I worked for a Hematology/Oncology office for four years and HAD to be the best that I could be because these poor people were getting stuck at least once a week. The biggest compliment you will get is "Is that it? I didn't even feel it." Then you will feel on top of the world for making life a little bit easier for someone.
I am sure you will be great!

Eww Lori I don't envy you.  Wait until you get a patient like me.....I faint when I get my finger pricked.  Now they make me lay with my head off the table.  Even the thought of getting poked makes my legs feel wobbly.  Ah all of this talk about it is making me weak.
Anyway with all of that aside you will be great!!  How much longer until you start?

 Hehe Lissa you are funny!!

I'm lucky though(if you can call it that) because my practicum is at an acute illness hospital, so most of the patients will already be lying down...and they have much worse things to worry about than a little bloodwork.... Sad  I guess that's more lucky for me than for the patients, It is also a children's hospital so that will probably be some sad sights also..  Cry

I start on March 7, so I am taking December off to relax, and then my old job will hopefully have some work at a Box Office for me until March. they are checking to see if it interferes with my Severance package though. (I wouldn't that to happen!!) If so, then I am going to try and find a really mindless job for a few months...warehouse or liquorstore or something like that!

When I was in college I had a friend who worked at a liquor store.  He would bring over boxes of new brews to try.  The beer reps would bring the employees lots of free stuff to try.  That would be a perk for ya Cheesy
