Lumpy's Mom!

« Reply #30 on: January 22, 2010, 04:07:41 PM »

I agree with you in that a shelter is a better alternative to just turning an animal out and letting it fend for itself. However, in Bug's case, his physical condition was so poor that he obviously suffered for months before his owners decided to send him to the shelter. His ears were crusty and his coat was oily. The poorest household could have afforded a little water and a soft cloth to clean out his ears and wipe him down since he was sick and could no longer care for himself. The poor thing valiantly used the litter box about an hour before he died so I know he still cared about hygiene. He looked very happy after I cleaned out his ears and wiped him down the night before.

OMG! You brought tears to my eyes. Sweet, precious Bug.  Cry Cry Kiss Kiss

Poor Bug, I'm glad he got to spend his last hours in a home filled with love, but I wish he'd had that before he came to Maggies house. I don't understand people... Rest in Peace Bug.

Also thinking of Penny, I hope she's ok Sad

Penny is at the Bridge. Her chest was filled with presumptive cancer so she was PTS while still under sedation. This is a pic of her on Christmas day.

OMG!!!!  I missed all of this.I was just reading allthe comments on this thread and am balling like a baby. I am so glad that there are people like you, and the other great people who rescue. Cry Cry Cry Cry
We have attempted the rescue of two bulldogs and had one successful rescue of another,Ivan. We have also rescued two cats from a kill shelter as kittens and they are two of the happiest cats in town as they have not had to suffer a day since we got them. It horrifies me to think of the inhumane ways people find to mistreat an animal that all they want is to be loved.
I wish I could reach out and hug all of you who rescue.

R.I.P. sweet Penny and Bugs. I am happy you were able to be loved before you left us

OMG, I am bawling my eyes out, she looks like Teenie's long lost sister....  if I meet the bastard that did what they did to her, there's gonna be this...

(yes, I have a sick sense of humor, but I love Kevin Smith, and not just because he's from Jersey!)

I am so sorry, I missed this too!!!!

Bless you Maggie... you have the biggest heart ever.  Kiss

The Dawg family sends lots of love....

from this morning, left to right, Phats, Chubbs, and Teenie.  Sorry, the quality sucks, lost the DSLR in the "divorce"..  it's from my phone.

 Cry Cry Cry

I'm really, very sorry to hear about Penny, and about Bug.  I am crying to hear this and I didn't even know them but through what you've told us on this forum.  I imagine it is 100 times harder on you, so please accept my deepest sympathies and hold in your heart the love that I know they  both felt for you, the love they probably never felt from anyone before you.

They are in a far better place now.
