Dozer is a picky boy.  He doesn't like any toy that is not food related or edible.  He will play with rope toys for a few minutes if you want to tug on it for him, but anything else (squeaky, stuffed, rubber chewies) he ignores.  He is a really powerful chewer, will demolish a bully stick in under an hour, will chew chunks off of any other chew bones (nylabones) in minutes... i'm at a loss as to what to give him!  Any ideas? he can unstuff a kong in about 30 min.  Help!

i get those big thick hollow bones from the pet store, after the boys chew off the stuff thats on them, i save them.

i put peanut butter all the way inside and just a bit where they can reach...seems to keep them busy for quite a while as its hard to get the peanut butter out.  also, its a really big bone, so they cant wreck it, impossible.

they also like plastic bottles, but only the big thick ones or they rip it apart in minutes.  i freeze water in it, just a thought?

I mix some kibble and yogurt and freeze it in Meatys' KONG.  That lasts a little while anyway.  Then there's peanut butter, the old standby...

Recently I put some leftover Mac n Cheese - the homemade kind with real cheese and milk.... he had that thing in both his paws like they were hands! He went nuts over it!  Even when he was done - the cheese smell had him nawing away on it!

I just bought 2 of these for my boys yesterday.  They look a little, um, phallic  Grin but if you're ok with these lying around the house, they are very durable and I don't see any dog being able to destroy it!  Mine aren't tough chewers though, and just kind of gnaw on them.

Nylabone has some decent bones for tough chewers - they are a little prciey, but they seem to last a good while.

also, i think someone has recommended raw bones from the butcher? you may want to do a search on it - we havent tried them personally, but i know my butcher has them and i have been tempted to get one.

Yeah I know this thread's kinda older.... funny story though -

Ah-hem... "Santa" was going to bring me new slippers for Christmas... nice "Chaps" brand suede with fuzzy lambswoolly lining and a cushy foam pad in the sole.

Well. SOMEBODY went snooping and pulled them out - chewed the whole heel away to nothingness!

And he did this - on my bed!  I came home from a city meeting, went to my room and walked into the "crime scene" with a VERY guilty looking Meatball curled up on my pillows - wearing a look that said "I couldn't help myself Mommy!"

We bought him a big meaty cows knuckle bone thing for his Christmas stocking... can't wait to give it to him !
