I'm just here for the belly rubs..

« on: September 20, 2010, 10:16:02 PM »

Here is the OFFICIAL thread for the 2010 bulldog domain card exchange.   How this works is simple... Grab your camera and take some photos of your bulldog (and other fur family members if you want) in a Christmas theme photograph.  Then you take your best, favorite photo and have them turned into a Christmas card.

Now the fun... You CAN NOT post the photo here on the forum ( I/we are not mod(s) so we can not officially make rules, just ask not to spoil the surprises!).

Submit to me by private message your name, mailing address and EMAIL...
Even if you participated last year, you still have to send us your name, address and email again...

This is how it works, I will email everyone who decides to participate a list of names and addresses the day after Thanksgiving, so you have until then to sign up and send me your info.  The Friday after Thanksgiving I will E Mail everyone's names and addresses.  then you simply address your cards and start sending them in the mail, the cool thing, for every card you send out, you get a bully card in return!!!  Tiffany and I got so excited last year when we opened up the mail box through out the holidays and and got a new card in the mail!!!

I loved getting international cards!  I have family overseas so I always have international postage lying around anyway!

The card holder is actually a photo tree that I use for the cards during the holiday season, then my dog's pictures the rest of the year.  Here's the link if anyone is interested!

Which camera do you use?  Any specific lens you're looking at?

I have a D90 w/ a 18-200mm, but i am looking at a 50mm/1.8 (not sure i can justify the 1.4).

I have a D90 a well. I mainly use my Sigma 18-50, 2.8, but also have the Tokina 11-16, 2.8 wide angle, 55-200mm (which I never use), and 50mm, 1.8.  For a dx type sensor though I find 50mm too close most of the time. It's really a short telephoto when put on a small sensor camera like a d90.  The 35mm, 1.8 is a much better option and I really should have gotten that one instead.  The 35mm on a D90 is like a 50mm  on a full frame camera, like the D700 or D3.

That's the kit lens that now comes with the D90, right?  I bought just the body, since I don't use the kit lenses due to the fact that I love to shoot wide open and their aperture doesn't go below 3.5 usually and I really love prime lenses for their sharpness.  I really want a Sigma 30mm, 1.4, but am considering just upgrading my D90 to its new replacement, the D7000 instead, since foregoing this lens will cover the price difference between the two.  The D90 has 9 focal points...the D7000 has 39.  That's more of an improvement that I ever imagined and it rivals the D300, which has 51. And, it has a weatherproof body, which is huge if you are near water or get caught in the rain.   Decisions, decisions.  I wish Nikon never came out with this new camera, it's way too tempting!

That's the kit lens that now comes with the D90, right? It's much better than what I got with my D40x several years back, the 55-200mm, which is basically worthless. Ok guys up to 5 or so in the exchange... I have a question for everyone... do you all want me to run a running list of the forum members who have signed up? or do we want it all to be a surprise??

Also as a reminder... you do not sign up in the post here.. you have to send me a private message...
