sounds like a rollarcoaster for sure. how many bullies do you have? if it was me i would limit his interaction with them and try to keep him as quiet as possible. very little exertion. have you tried the shower soothers? they really helped harlow breathe. also i had a humidifier running in the room she was in at all times. i also used the natural saline nose drops in the am and pm to help keep her little nose clear.

keep the faith. he sure has alot of good thoughts and prayers coming his way. sweet boy!

We did Saline drops too and really worked at keeping his nose clear of crusties.  For a while with Brody we blended up his food with a vitamin and fed him with a syringe, it was the only way we got water into him as well.

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to keep all my bullie friends updated...Champy had his IV lined pulled after this evening dose. That makes a total of 10 treatments IV. Twice daily vet trips..but that is not a problem...as I would do anything! He is now on twice daily injections of the same drug. He has started to play more and his appetite seems to be coming back...Fingers crossed on tHat!

It truly has and I am sure will still be a roller coaster of good days to bad days. The vet says that the injections will continue for at least 5 more days. And depending on how he does maybe longer. This has been my first bout with pneumonia in a bullie. All the others  have never had an issue.

I appreciate all the positive thoughts and prayers from all of you. I will continue to keep you posted on just how things are going. Take care and a big hug to each and all of you.

Champy is still hanging in. He is on twice daily injections of the generic form of Fortaz.  I hate giving them to him. It is a thick med in the syringe and is very hard to push in...even though it is only about 8mls it takes some time and he has started to cry. And so do I.
These are to continue until Wednesday evening. Then we will re assess his status. He sounds more congested tonight. So I am very comcerned and worried.

He plays outside with the others and even though the yard is completely mulched they still manage to kick up dust and I am hoping that is what is causing the added congestion. But will let the vet decide on Wednesday evening if we will need to continue on.

I will keep everyone posted over the next few days.
Thanks again for everyone's concern.

Awww, I'm sure he knows you are trying to get him better with the shots. I had a thought I figured I'd share -- not sure if it is Fall where you are located but maybe allergies are contributing to his congestion? I know Auggie's allergies go haywire (both skin and lung congestion) this time of year especially if we walk and he goes tramping through the fallen leaves. Total havoc.  Maybe try wiping his paws down every time he comes in, then he'll ingest less allergens???  Just a thought. Hang in there. We are all routing for Champ.

i'm surprised the vet said its ok to even be outside. harlow was allowed to go out n potty, thats it. she was either crated or leashed or laying by me. i needed to keep her as quiet as possible. it might be agrravating his lungs. you might want to speak with the vet. jmo

Susan, we are in Pensacola Fl and while we are experiencing some seasonal changes it is still very warm and everyting is still in bloom here. But he maybe having a reaction to something I am not aware of...there are lots of oak trees in the backyard...so who knows!

The vet was an advocate for Champy to be up and moving to help clear out his lungs...and really never expressed any limitations on activity...I think the sunshine and fresh air has helped him...I just think this is a very slow process in healing...some good days and some small setbacks...I could do without the later, though.

Tomorrow, Wednesday is the last of the two injections...I will be relieved...but with our luck and if the vet hears any junk in his lungs they may continue...time will tell.
I will continue to keep everyone updated...if I can help one other person, with my experience with this type of pneumonia I will be happy! It is not something to fool around with..
