Well it just keep getting better for us... Champy seems to be on the right track and now our little Chi seems to be presenting with kennel cough...sounds like what some of mine had years ago. No cough production just a dry hacking cough...constantly...she has an appetite and drinks fine.

My vet years ago told me it had to run its course...have any of you had any home remedies that might give some relief. I think the vet before said I could use regular Robutissin. But my memory is very sketchy on it.

This must have been brought home on my clothes/shoes, etc. as we were making twice daily runs to our vets office for Champys treatments...what a real mess!!

I tried some of Champys nebulizer tx this morning-it has not really helped much. Any thoughts or ideas is appreciated.
Just wonder when this nightmare will end with my babies..it is now going on two weeks with all this mess. But the up side is I think we are seeing the end of the tunnel with the worst----fingers & toes crossed & knocking on some wood!

Thanks again for any thoughts.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this too. My friend had her 2 bullies at the vet when a man came in with his dog. He started petting all of her dogs and telling her how much he just loved them. He went to the receptionist and told her his dog had kennel cough! Of course the bullies got it too. I know she had them on some meds. I will ask her today what they were.

oh man, i'm so sorry. that is exactly how harlow caught kennel cough. my daughters puppy had it and it came over on my granddaughters clothers/shoes. be careful, thats how harlow got pneumonia. the kc went into pneu. we tried a slew of meds as i posted before, i did the shower soothers, cupping, kept her very quiet and finally got the herbal remedies from pet alive. if your interested let me know and i can let you know what i got. i believe it helped alot. i sure hope your babies get better soon, you must be stressed to the max. hugs.

They have a narcotic cough medicine that they can give you... unless there is a good reason why not?

I've also been told Robitussin works, but be careful bc the dosage for a dog is not going to be the same as for you and me, at least I don't think so.  I can tell you that at the local shelter I work with when a dog gets kennel cough they put him on antibiotics like clavamox.  But it seems like some dogs get over it really fast and for some dogs it just drags out.  More hugs and kisses, hope all your babies get well and stay well.  I'm so sorry you've had such a trying month, but just keep the faith, they have a great momma who will do everything she can to pull them through it.
