Brutus

« on: January 01, 2011, 09:16:32 AM »

We had a rough night last night with all the loud pops and bangs. Brutus (bulldog) did much better this year but still went into a barking frenzy when a particularly loud bang occurred. Toula (corgi) was absolutely terrified. She started barking with Brutus but after 10 minutes was curled up on/under me and was shaking all over. I didn't know what to do. I felt terrible for her but was scared I was re-enforcing her fraidy dog behavior by petting and trying to comfort her. What do you guys do for your doggies on these loud holidays?

Lumpy's Mom!

I have three thunderstorm/fireworks phobic babies. Sunshine can take Melatonin and is fine. Lumpy and Bella take Acepromazine (which you have to get from your vet) because Melatonin does not work for them. We had the double bonus of a thunderstorm AND fireworks last night.  Roll Eyes Everyone slept through it all.  Smiley

A friend of mine who is also a dog trainer told us about this.  She said it really works.  We are going to order one before July 4th.

It helps Winston.  I think you have to have a perfect fit for it to work because it uses pressure points.
