I know we've talked about carpet cleaners before but I was wondering if anyone has tried the Hoover MaxExtract 77? I'm torn between it or a Bissell ProHeat 2x with Clean Shot.

We have an older ProHeat and I really dislike the combined clean/dirty water tank. Plus tons of dog hair gets trapped on the back of the front suction thing and then it spits out nasty furballs while I'm using it. I've yet to figure out how to effectively clean out the hair.

The MaxExtract has separate tanks and (the most tempting feature) detachable brushes for easy cleaning which sounds awesome. However, several reviews online make the machine sound like it isn't very durable.

Help me decide Huh

P.S. Last night I was watching HSN and was sorely tempted to order the Bissell Big Green but even as the "Today's Special" it was still $499! Plus it looks...well...big  Roll Eyes

I have had 3 hoover carpet cleaners and I have loved them all! (An appliance guy told us to stay away from Bissell--not sure why, though.)

I was definitely leaning toward the Hoover until I read the reviews (although there were only a couple of bad ones). I know I don't like the combined clean/dirty tank and the icky wet hairball emissions that come with a Bissell. I think I'll get the Hoover. I have a week to make up my mind (waiting for payday Cheesy).

I have the Bissell pro heat 2x too, and HATE it! it wouldnt be so bad if you didnt have to take the whole darn thing apart to get the hair out of it...  and the combined water tank is icky... you cant get the scent of the dirt/nastyness out of it...

I had a Hoover - my brother borrowed it - tripped over something and broke it - the replacement parts were an absolute sinch to find!  Cheap enough too!

I'd go with the Hoover.

(I also used it on the tile bathroom floor .... house full of boys... ya know!)

I am also excited by the fact that the Hoover is for multi-surface use. I have tile, carpet, laminate, and hardwoods and it says it can clean them all:

"MaxExtract® deep cleaners are designed to clean a variety of surfaces from carpets to couches and sealed wood floors to tiled floors. This versatile, easy-to-use machine removes water, dirt and grime with pressurized cleaning, and has heated drying for a fast dry time. Features a double chamber nozzle to power wash surfaces with even suction across a wide path, while the automatic detergent system provides the right ratio of detergent and water for the best cleaning results. Patented Hoover® SpinScrub® brushes gently loosen dirt and clean all sides of carpet and upholstery fibers, with an adjustable speed control for various floor surfaces, including a Spill Pick-Up mode so you don't scrub in spills."

I'll post a review once I use it Smiley

My hoover cleans the tile well, but I don't think the brushes are deep enough to really scrub the grout clean. I like to use the hose and brush attachment to clean the brick around the fire place. It gets so dusty and the hoover makes it look like brand new. I also use the attachment to clean the floor mats in my car. It does a great job!

I have the Hoover Steamvac All Terrain.  I LOVE it.  I use it on my hardwood and ceramic tile.  We only have one room left with carpet, a spare bedroom, and I've used it in there to clean up a throw up mess, and it worked great there too.

I forget what kind of steam cleaner I have as I have not used it yet.  Lips sealed  I lent it to a friend to use. I just got my Dyson Animal DC25 Ball delivered about a week and a half ago but have not been able to use it yet.  Sad I only have two rooms with carpet in them (the dining room and second bedroom). Hopefully, I will be ripping out those carpets soon! I have oak floors under the carpet in the second bedroom. Someone told us that we have red brick flooring in dining room.  Smiley
