Life's a Beach!

Magoo completed his heartworm injections in December and I am happy to say he is heartworm free. He visited the cardiologist last week and there was little or no damage to his heart. They scanned his spleen too and it was small.   He has the go ahead to have his total ear ablation. His lymphocytes are a bit high but there's no indication he has lymphoma so the surgeon believes it is due to his poor sweet little ears, the openings to his ears are about the size of a pin head, it's impossible to see what is going on in there. Waiting for tax refund, surgery should be in mid to late March. I know it's a very serious surgery. He is having it done by a board certified surgeon at Veterinary Surgical Center in Northern VA. If anyone has any knowledge about this procedure I would appreciate any info you can send my way.

Sorry dear, I'm no help either, but I just had to say WOOT! for the heart worm free part and love, hugs, and prayers-vibes-wishes for the surgery part.  For you as much as him!

From what the surgeon told me it is very painful, but they will have him on strong pain meds. Once those ear canals are gone he will feel sooooo much better. There are risks, which scares the crap out of me. He was put on augmentin for 10 days and the lymphocytes were a bit higher after that. They feel it has to be his ears (no signs of lymph nodes other than a small one). I just found another surgeon whose specialty is ears, he is calling me on Monday. The other facility has wonderful credentials too, just not the only thing they do.

I can only imagine what the pain would be but just tell Mr. Magoo that the drugs are great  Wink I know from recent experience  Cheesy and it will be just for a short while.  Then he is going to feel soooooo  much better! Do let us know what this other specialist says.  Kiss
