RIP my crazy General!

« on: March 06, 2011, 05:43:10 PM »

Has anyone had experience with this?  Molly doesn't have one, but I just got a rescue basset hound on Saturday, and he has a large on on his back.

He had been to two vets in Missouri, both of whom said to just let it heal on its own, because they didn't want to put him under due to his age.  He was brought into rescue last July and had it then, his foster mom said it has shrunk, but it is still large.  It is basically just a giant scab that bleeds occasionally, probably because it rubs up on the floor/dog beds, etc.

Never dealt with anything like that, but we have just had a terrible bout with allergies. I'm talking most of the fur on Ozzy's back is gone. Anyways, if he is the one rubbing it on the floor and beds and such because it itches, maybe ask your Vet about ResiCort to see if it would help. Basically it is a lotion made of hydrocortisione, it helped majorly with Ozzy's itching and sores. It was a little pricey, but WORTH it! Oh and all of his sores are healed now Smiley Just a thought, hope it helps!
