Life's a Beach!

« on: March 18, 2011, 12:47:52 PM »

Magoo had his ear ablation surgery yesterday. His ears were completely shut with calcified scar tissue. I struggled with him having the surgery due to how painful and dangerous it can be. I now know I did the right thing. Dr. Lazar said it was one of the worst cases he has done this procedure on. He said poor Magoo had to have been in horrible pain. He will be like a new dog!  This morning when I checked in with the surgical center they said he was awake, eating and happy! I know he is still on a Morphine drip but what a tough little guy! When he had the heartworm injections he bounced back the next day with each injection. Most dogs are miserable for at least a week. He still needs dental surgery but that one isn't urgent. I attached a photo of him yesterday on his way to VSC. It broke my heart, he was so excited about going bye byes. He laid his little chin on my arm. He had no clue what was in store for him.

I pick him up today at 430. I am nervous about the weekend, hope he sleeps with no pain. Anyone considering any surgeries I highly recommend Dr. Lazar at VSC in Leesburg and Dr. Tyrell for cardiology. What a wonderful group of specialist. The procedure took 2 hours. Before Magoo was out of anesthesia Dr. Lazar called to let me know things went well. He sounded exhausted but still took the time to call me immediately. The girl at the front desk quoted the wrong estimate for the procedure, when I dropped Magoo off I was given a paper for $1,000 more. But Dr. Lazar honored the original estimate. I felt really bad since the procedure normally takes an hour for 2 ears and he spent 2 hours and was paid 1/3 less than he should have gotten. Anyway my little golden Buddha is on his way to being a healthy happy baby! Kiss

I'm thrilled for you and Magoo Terry. He's going to have a whole new lease on life!! One without pain! I'm sure he will just lay low this weekend and snooze, happy to be home.

Big hugs to you. You did the right thing by Magoo.  Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

Oh Terry, I am so glad the surgery went well.  Isn't it horrible when we don't know when they are in pain and how much?  So glad that he will be pain-free now.  He is such a doll!!!  We really MUST get together this spring for our munchkins to get to know each other.
Have a great weekend.

Hang in there, girl, there's a lot of people who care. I forwarded your location to a good friend in bulldog rescue. She is trying to find a specialist in your area.  Chloe is so lucky to have a Momma who cares!  Kiss Kiss
