School started Aug 24.  My trainee is in place at work and doing well. I'm staying on at work Fri-Sun and will most likely seek a second job for after school hours. Dulce and Hank are doing well. I've been running around today buying my required color scrubs, stethoscope etc. I still need one more textbook and some random school supplies. We are waiting for info on where to get the required pre-rabies vaccines. I also need a tetanus and whooping cough vaccines. (ouch)Insurance doesn't cover pre-rabies.

Im trying to concentrate on this, but we miss Midgee sooo much.

Lumpy's Mom!

Enjoy school! Jeff and I have both had out pre-rabies vaccines about ten years ago when we were helping to raise and release orphaned wildlife. He did get sick from one of the injections. I did not get sick from the initial injections. There was a possibility that I had been exposed to rabies when I was working in a lab and had to get a booster. I did get flu-like symptoms from it but it was not bad. I am happy Hank and Dulci are doing well!  Cheesy

Pre-rabies shot? I didn't know there was such a thing! Continue to keep us updated on how you are doing in school!

I didn't know either till I found this:
What is pre-exposure (Pre-E) rabies vaccination?
Pre-exposure rabies vaccination is a way to protect a person from getting rabies before they come in
contact with a rabid animal. Two types of rabies vaccines are licensed for pre-exposure in the US; both
are equally safe and produce an antibody response against rabies virus. The available vaccines are as
follows: Human Diploid Cell Vaccine (HDCV), and Purified Chick Embryo Cell vaccine (PCEC). Rabies
Vaccine Absorbed (RVA) is no longer available in the United States.
What are the advantages of preexposure vaccination?
Although Pre-E does not eliminate the need for additional treatment once you are exposed to a rabid
animal, it does reduce the number of doses needed for treatment. If an individual with a history of
receiving Pre-E is exposed to a rabid animal, only 2 doses of rabies vaccine are necessary instead of 5
doses of vaccine plus antirabies serum (Human Rabies Immune Globulin).

First pre exposure was 10/18.  The next one is 10/25. I forget when the third one is.
School is going ok. I'm carrying a B average. Dulce actually went to school with me a few weeks ago for a bathing and grooming lesson. She was perfect as 5 sets of hands clipped her nails, cleaned her ears, cleaned her anal sacs, and gave her a bath. She spent most of class time in my lap and helping me take notes.

I can just imagine Dulce .... "I like school momma! I get spoiled and pampered!"

Thanks for the update - keep up the hard work!

(Does Dulce get a diploma too? )
