Not a monumental thing, I know, but at first it sure felt like it. We didn't want to go anywhere. We went to our favorite coffeehouse on 4th Ave. today.  They like pooches on their patio.  We just felt we should get out and do something with the kids.  They've been angels through Midge's illness.  It was also probably a good idea for us to get out despite how wrecked we're feeling and we'll see how we do while out.  It turned out to be a good thing, and a first step in the healing process.  Several of the staff and the regulars know our kids, and we had to inform them that Midge had passed. It hurt to say the words, but just knowing they cared (she had a bit of a fan club) helped us.  We ate this morning for this first time in two days.  We had been so busy and so tied up in knots with Midgie Moo that we just weren't interested in food. We still weren't this morning but once we started eating it felt a little better. Hank and Dulce were absolutely fantastically behaved.  They met some new friends among the passersby.  We also met a Frenchie, who was white and brindle and named... Hank!  That made all of us laugh.  Dulce was so cute standing on her back feet trying to scam a bite of our food.  (The pic was from an earlier trip, but that face is so darn cute.)

I'm so so sorry to hear about Midge. It's heartbreaking. You are doing the right thing -- when Freida passed I forced myself to do one "normal" thing everyday, even if it was small to get my feet back under me.

If there is anything I can do, please reach out. I know I found huge comfort in the forum on www.rainbowbridge.com, helped me for a long while. Smiley

Big hugs to you.  Kiss Cry

The house is a disaster. I can't bear to start. The living room floor needs a vac and mop. I have to move Midge's ex  pen, water bowl and stand, a couple blankies and her t shirt dress she wore for Easter to the Farmers Market. Easter (April 24 2011) was her adoption day. The kitchen has the last of her meds and vitamins. The fridge has open cans and bowls of anything she would eat . We bought her chicken Sat eve and never got to cook it. She was due for license renewal according to some mail on the table. I tried to pick my uniforms out of the laundry to wash them. Her little t shirts are in among the piles. Her empty crate is at our bedside still.

She is everywhere. How are we going to get through this?

Oh my heart is breaking for you.

The only thing I can tell you is you do it one day at a time, and you'll know when it's time to move her crate - when you're ready.  Wash her t-shirts with the laundry and set them aside but not away... again till you can.

Remember/reflect on the pure joy she brought you, knowing she knew unconditional love for the whole last year.

I  know what  you're going through.  Everywhere we go there is some sign of Winston.  I have his pictures all over my office.  All over the house.  At daycare his picture is on the wall and also his "baby" picture.  It is not something you can get over with right away.  But everyday it will get a little better but the pain never goes away.  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

My heart is breaking reading this  Cry Cry Cry.  We love them like our children and when they are gone there's a huge hole where that family member was. I can't tell you it gets any easier, when I think I am OK something will happen and I fall apart. Just know that you gave her the best year of her life.  I made a little shrine in the corner where Emma slept, her Woobie is there with her ashes and a favorite photo.  Maybe you can do that with Midge's little t's and a favorite photo of her. Sending you hugs  Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss!

I am so sorry  Cry Cry I am so glad you're getting out though.. I can only imagine how hard it is to see all her things and all the places in the house she loved spending time in. Its so natural to feel this way but before you know it, you will start celebrating her life instead of hurting over it. It almost seems mean to stop hurting but Midge wouldn't want you to suffer more then you need to. You will get through this. There is no rush or time limit. We're here, your babies are there, you will get through this. HUGE hugs and kisses out to you and your family..  Kiss

Strange day..My cell phone died before lunch. I couldn't call home to check in, but called Aaron from work as
i was leaving.

1.  Midge's ashes are back at the Emergency hospital.
2. Aaron said there were 3 cactus wrens on the front porch today. (Any Bob Marley fans out there?)
3.The other thing he mentioned was a petfinder listing for a larger Dulce look a like. She is right down the street from my work.

Yes, I sent the email when I got home.

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")

Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

I honestly don't know about adopting right now. I only sent an email about us and some about Midge inquiring about a certain bulldog. She is a full size  bulldog with very similar markings to our Dulce.  Her info says she was left at a rental house. I was compelled to ask about her.

I lost Emma and Sunny within three weeks of each other. At first I was going to rush in and get a puppy, but decided to wait a few months. Then like a sign from heaven I meet a woman in front of my house telling me she has a bulldog she doesn't want anymore.  I have to say Mister Simon was what ALF and I needed. Such a love, he didn't take Emma and Sunny's place, but he added a new personality to our family. He distracted me from the pain of losing both my babies.  If this baby is right you will know, it might be what you need to get through the horrible emptiness of losing sweet Midge. It sounds to me like Midge is letting you know she is OK. Good luck and keep us posted on the e-mail and it's outcome.

Hugs to you  Kiss Kiss Kiss!

I agree with Terry.  Kiss  There will be some kind of sign.   Roll Eyes When we lost our little shih-tzus, Maggie and Jasper we only had Winston.  Sad  Was in a pet store with my mom and they had the cutest little Havanese ever.  Tongue  Went home and did research on the breed,  had many many conversations (one sided) with Winston  Wink if he wanted a wittle wat to play with  Cheesy Went back several times and then the last question was what her birthday was and lo and behold it was the same as Winston's!   Smiley To me, that was a sign to get her.  So I think there will be something that tells you she's the one.

I think it's plain sweet that Aaron was peeking on Petfinder for someone that deserves you!
