Has anyone ever had a bulldog who had a seizure?  Rocky has fits where his head jerks up and down and it lasts for several minutes.  Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?  I'm taking him to the vet, just wanted to know if anyone had ever experienced this with their bullies.

I think most of us on this forum have had a least one bulldog with seizure issues. It is just one of many things that trouble this breed.

I'm no expert but many folks on here have experienced "head bobbing syndrome" and it is dues to low blood sugar.  have no idea if this is what is happening to your guy and hopefully someone else will chime in but if you can get him to take a teaspoon of Karo syrup when this happens often times it stops-- it if is head bobbles and not a seizure.   Can I ask how often you feed your dog?

Thanks so much for your reply.  I actually have an open canister of food that I leave out for my bullies (looks like a huge culligan bottle but for food), the dogs eat from it when they are hungry.

Bulldogs can have head tremors, these are not seizures and should not be treated with Phenobarbital, it is said to be low blood sugar.  Keep a bag or jar of animal crackers handy and when it happens feed your dog a couple and see if it stops, if its a bad tremor Karo syrup on the tongue is a quicker fix.  There are lots of vets that don't know about this and treat as seizures and dogs have died from being on seizure meds.  If you have a Bulldog savvy vet he/she will know about the head tremors and keep that in account.  You should have Rocky looked at, I'm not a vet but I am familiar with head tremors.  Good Luck.
