Thank you so much for asking.. Its been tough.. She took about 2 weeks to recover from surgery, started eating really well, gained about 5-7 pounds of muscle.. She looked GREAT! Still sounded terrible though. As of a week ago, she's been trying to hack something up again. I cant imagine what can be still bothering her with her huge tonsils removed and her palette shortened. I have to bring her back to the Vet and maybe have them keep her for a day or two so that they see exactly what I am talking about.

I know the surgery helped her with getting more oxygen in her body, but I believe she is finally starting to suffer. She's limping worse since her much needed weight gain, her elbows look even more dislocated then before. The hacking, especially at nights is terrible. I sleep on the couch with her downstairs, she's got her own couch right next to me. She wakes up in the middle of the night and suffers for about 20 minutes until I shhh her, and hold her, and pet her until she calms back down again.

There is 'something' still in her way of breathing. Could it be just the small trachea? It sounds like her palette is back or something.. is that possible?

I am so so sorry she is still suffering. You are a great Momma to her.  I hope the vet can come up with a reason for this. Is it possible she has a form of asthma? Maybe serious allergies? I don't know if that's possible and I am sure your vet would have though of it, but it's worth asking about.

Sending you hugs and prayers and good thoughts for sweet little Chloe. Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

You are the BEST mom to Chloe dear. It sounds like there is definitely something still going on. Is it possible to take her to another vet for a second opinion? It's just a thought. Trying to cover all bases for her. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You are doing all the right things.

Big, big hugs to you and your girl.  Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

It could be small trachea. Our Dulce has a pretty small one. She also seems to have seasonal allergies Spring and Fall. We give her Benadryl almost every morning with those. A vet said once that even if it doesn't seem to help the mucus it will keep swelling down for her airways.  Dulce had pneumonia a year ago December and really hasn't been able to breathe as well since. ( I posted about that at the time) The vets said something about maybe think about the surgery..but she was 5 at the time and pretty sick..

I have to ask. Did they check her heart and lungs at some point?

Our thoughts are with you and Chloe always.

Thank you all for your support and wonderful comments.. Beginning Thursday of this week, I am going on a much needed vacation (its also my one year wedding anniversary). We decided to board Chloe at the Vets office that did her surgery. I would never board her otherwise but I think (and so does he) that leaving her under his supervision would be the best thing to do. I originally wanted to take her with us but I want her better before I take her on a long car ride.. I don't think its hit me yet that we'll be apart..  Undecided

I know how tiny her trachea is and of course I always knew of the problems she would have because of it.. We live in Atlanta and allergies are terrible. I have Benedryl that the vet gave me but somehow misplaced them. He said I could use over the counter ones and I think I am going to start that today or tomorrow. I recently started putting lemon juice in her water to break up the Phlegm that seems to be in her airway. (I learned about the lemon juice from you all on this board, BTW  Kiss Kiss Thank you) I haven't noticed a HUGE difference yet but you know me, I will keep trying new things..

I want to thank you all so much!! Without you and this board, I would have never known how to fight in order to give Chloe another chance at life..  Cry

Happy Anniversary!!! You are doing all the right things. Don't ever doubt yourself. Just wanted to throw out there to get the basic Benedryl not the one that says Allergy on it. Just original Benedry.

Hope you have a relaxing trip.
