Dulce apparently is trying out for a new career:  Chicken herder.  Yes, she was actually herding the chicks  Cheesy  It was hilarious to watch.

"Did I get the job?"

That'll do, kid, that'll do.

We( Sugar the silkie) hatched our (a pair of cochins ) first egg on Saturday. Sugar is setting on two more of them and they should hatch in the next few days. The little chick is doing well and we hope it wont be an only child. Dulce is very interested in the new bird.

That is so cute! I can't let Bluto near my chickens. He thinks they are moving squeak toys but Bear loves them. How long have you had chickens?

Oh Good!!! I am glad he has a buddy! You will love the silkies! They are so sweet and gentle. I have a silkies, salmon faverolles, turkens, Easter Eggers and brown leghorns plus some mixes my silkies hatched out. My silkies have been broody since MArch and just broke them when I moved. I have one silkie girl still sitting on eggs. Better than 13! LOL
I just moved the boys and a flock of 40 chickens to Georgia from PA! It was an adventure! LOL

I got home from school just in time to see chick#3 hatch. Next time the Silkie goes broody we hope to have her on her own eggs. I want her separated out with our silkie roo soon so I can have puffy lil babies.  We are at 6 hens, 4 roos and 3 chicks.

I hope you get some more girls from the chicks. It seems I end up hatching way to many roo's! I did rehome some but still have 6 boys and I am seeing some younger ones that are probably boys too. Is this the first time your girl went broody? I love watching the moms take care of the babies!
