Ok, so i was scratching dozer last night in his favorite spot (back of his back legs) and found a patch of nothingness! just one patch, on one leg gone... now his belly has always tended to be on the thin/fine haired side, but never the backs of his legs! i dont know how he would have/could have rubbed it off, maybe in his crate when we're at work, thats all i can think of!  He does have food allergys, and has been on TOTW High Prairie formula for almost a year (about 6 large bags worth) and hasnt had any issues with it yet.  I have started him on supplements back in april (Missing Link with Glucosamine) once a day, which has some sort of fish oil in it to help with the skin/coat.  I was also thinking maybe grass allergies? He loves running the field next to our house... But this hasnt happened before... Oh the worries!

Seasonal flank alopecia is extremely common this time of year, I just spoke to our Bulldog vet about it.  It tends to strike Bulldogs and boxers.  Look it up, that's what it may be.  Once the season passes, the hair will grow back.

A friend of mine is starting her dog and cats on this:

Don't know anything about it but it sure looks interesting.  She is going to let me know results.

Bc.. I used nzymes on steeler...it cleared up all of his yeast and staining issues when he was younger. I think they are a great product.

It could just be a hot spot, esp if that is the only spot. Id clean it well and apply some bacitracian n see .how it goes for a few days.  I srsly doubt its anything serious but i know how much we worry. Lol

Fyi...hibiclens is a great anti bacterial cleanser.

I'd take the dog to the vet. Seasonal Alopcecia happens in Winter due to lack of sunlight and if I am not mistaken, is limited to the flanks. The vet needs to rule out Thyroid issues with a blood test-- that is another reason for hair loss.

Just my 2 cents. My gal had seasonal alopecia and it fell out in winter and did not fill in again until very late in the Summer / early Fall.

I doubt its SFA... its on the very back side of his leg... and the only spot, and his skin looked normal, just like someone shaved him there, no thickening of the skin, no discoloration, just looked like the cat got the trimmers and *zzzzt* it was gone!  But i did wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe... looking at it this morning it looks like its coming back a little... Just something completely random!  We do have a yearly update scheduled in a week, i'll mention it to him, also i'll ask about the thin belly hair...
