I love Bullies!

Pudgy isn't himself today..  He is acting lethargic, sleeping in strange spots, and very slow to respond.  He just turned 11 this month, and I know that he is up there in age but I never want to think about that.  I just called the vet, and I will be bringing him in soon once my brother comes over to go with me soon.  I hope it isn't anything serious, but I'm worried.  He still ate, pooped/peed, and went outside for a bit today.  But just more inactive then his normal day.

Please send some prayers.  I will update once I get back from the vet.

Let us know what the vet says. Maybe it's just the heat that is making him mopey.

So Pudgy is home now.  The results were a bit inconclusive to what was going wrong, but we do know that there was a lot of gas buildup in his GI tract.  The cause of that is unknown.  She insisted we keep him overnight for observation and administer anti-gas meds.  Although the next morning xray showed that the medicine didn't make much of a difference, he is still full of gas.  He is still eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, so she said we could take him home and monitor him over the next few days for any changes.  We did find out he has an enlarged heart on one side and she does recommend doing an echo cardiogram to see if that could be the culprit.  They have a cardiologist come in a handful of times each month, so I will be setting up an appointment for that.  The next option after that would be going to a specialist, probably at UC Davis.  And lastly exploratory surgery which will be the last resort.

But since he's been home, he seems to be doing a little better.  Still a bit sluggish in my opinion but still getting up and walking around, eating, etc.  And yesterday during diner he did beg everyone with those big puppy eyes of his so that's a good sign.

He got me so worried, I was in tears.  I'm glad he's home.

It's been a few days and he's definitely more active than he was.  Up to his usual antics of begging for food and wrestling around with his sister.  I think his paw/arm may be a little sensitive from the IV spot because he helped when I touched it.  But other then that he's eating, pooping, peeing.  And there hasn't been anything else that was out of the ordinary.

I'm hoping he was just full of "gas".  He's definitely been farting a lot and I've been giving him some gas medicine just as precaution.  He's currently on Orijen 6fish and I'm wondering if it's the food that maybe causing the gas build up even though he's been on it for a while.  I may do some research to see if there's other alternatives or a prescription diet that may be easier on his tummy.

Other then that he seems to be doing well.  He definitely got me worried though.

Happy to hear he is better....God bless him at 11. Maybe looking into a limited ingredient diet would be good...maybe its too rich for his ahem...older digestive system? I know how we worry, im happy ur more relaxed!
