Forgive me if someone has already asked this question, but it is new to me!  About 4 or 5 months ago I rescued two old english bulldog sisters, both spayed, and they are fabulous pets.  After their birthday celebration, trouble started.  They are fighting, very brutally, without submitting, causing a lot of issues.  The first fight (mid August) was a shock, and I've tried having them out together only a few times since then.  I tried a few more times but the fights are too much for me to handle.  They aren't 'working it out' one bit.  I only have one dog out at a time.  I've been working with a trainer, but he says this is a very difficult issue and takes a lot of time to work through (but he thinks we can do it).  I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and how they managed.  I'm considering purchasing muzzles (with the cage) so they can be out together because I have very long work days and it pains me to hear Pearl cry to me when Ruby is out and about.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!

I had a similar issue with Simon and Magoo. Simon got a long great with ALF when he came to live with me. Enter Magoo about 6 months later...... things were great for about a month and then they started attacking one another, very scary. THey are fine as long as I am not petting or sitting with one in front of the other. I have to split my time between the two of them when it comes to cuddles. I can sit with the Basset Hound, ALF and love on her and neither one cares about that??? Have you tried not being in the room when the trainer is there? Maybe it's a jealousy issue with you like my two.

Simon hates any smushed nose breeds. He had a Smooch the Pooch booth at a HUmane Society event last weekend and was fine with all the other dogs, but when he encountered a Pug, American Bulldog, Bulldog and Boxer her went into attack mode. My other little Bulldog was like that too. She was fine with all other breeds but hated smushed nose breeds.

Good luck and thank you for taking in these two girls and trying very hard to make this work. A lot of people would just hang up the towel and hand them back over to the rescue. Kiss Kiss Kiss

Sounds like you've figured out why they needed rescue!   How old are they?  My boy's a OEB - but he's as chill as they come - only when cats, groundhogs, or skunks are around does he really get "git 'em" like. (small prey!)

Thanks for taking these girls in and trying with them!
