Hello everyone, we adopted a male 2 yr old bully from humane shelter in march  so far everything has been good and adjusting well,  Duke has got tail pocket issues and he is having surgery Friday for removal of tail, I am not real worried about the surgery it self but more concerned with the aftercare. was wonder if any of you all who have this done could lend some advice on the after care.. cleaning pain etc..  Here is a pic of Duke.

Congratulations on your new addition!  Duke looks like he is a hoot!  Kiss
Winston had his tail amputed many years ago (RIP sweet boy  Cry)  and it was a piece of cake.  The next day he acted like nothing had happened.  There wasn't any aftercare (just watch it to make sure it didn't get infected) he was on antibiotics and pain meds if needed.  That was it.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Duke came through surgery good, but they are going to keep him overnight because he was oozing pretty bad. The vet said that his was a lot worse that he thought it was going to be, he said it was pushing on his colon. So we got to see him and he was so pitiful. Will be glad to get him home tomorrow and give him big kisses and hugs....

I have a spray bottle of peroxide... Maybe that'd be easier on poor Duke's tail spot?

How's he doing now?? Big lug!

update on the Dukester, he is doing fine excxcept he has popped all the stitches and had to be replaced with staples which have also been popped. the vet said that they would have to knock him out again to re stitch this time, poor think has to take a poop ya know... so we are watching and keeping it clean it there is only one place that is bad but is looking better. he has been enjoying all the babying...
