Bulldogs Rule!

« on: August 16, 2005, 01:17:07 PM »

This morning I got to wake HIM up for a change!  Oh yes, I took great pleasure in that.  Anyway, we crated him up and drove off to meet the Vet to get his shots, his first 3,000 mile check up and just to get a few questions answered.

The Vet was pretty happy with the little guy, everything was in order.  I thought his little tail was a little off kilter, but the Vet said it was perfect.  Shows how much I know, huh?  Hugo did pretty good, and I think he kinda dug the chance to see the other dogs there.  He wanted to sidle up to a 100 lbs Rottie, but I just didnt think that was the best idea.  That dog was kind of just looking at little Hugo like he was a snack.

He does have cherry eye on the left side and the vet explained all of that too me.  Poor guy.   The Vet also said that he is a little chubby, so I have to work on wearing his chunky little butt out some more.  The Vet is a HUGE bulldogger himself and was more then happy to sit and coach me through all my Bulldog questions.    The best part is that he hooked me up with some good shampoo to get rid of Stinky, Itchy Puppie.

On the way home we stopped at a little pet shop to fit him for a little leash...which of course he wants nothing to do with.  He got a kick out of that place cuze he got to see...MORE DOGS!  Problem is, most of the big dogs kind of ignore him and that just breaks his little heart.  I'm gonna get him around some pups this weekend so that should make him happy.

Everyone that saw him wanted to get close to him.  One lady at Vets office begged me to let her hold him and she just hauled him all around the waiting room telling him how cute he was.  I got a kick out of that, plus I like for other people to handle him and he seems to like it.

Hugo digs it when the chicks tell him how cute he is.

To top it all off he came home and got...HIS FIRST BATH!  I dont know if he really knew what to make of that situation, but he took it pretty decently and he now smells and looks a whole lot better.  He is not all itchy and stinky now so that kind of rules.

Now...for the next hour or so I get a break as he sleeps off his big day.

Sounds like a wonderful experience for both you and Hugo.  It's great for him to be handled by lots of different people and to be around a lot of different dogs both big and small.  If you continue to do that he will be one social friendly bullie!
