Hi guys!
Wasn't sure where to post this, but if you want to move it, thanks.
Okay, does anyone have light colored leather furniture and dogs who always leak anal sac fluid?? I know this sounds like an odd question, but we found a leather set we love, but it is a dark cream/light khaki color and my husband fears anal sac fluid will ruin it. We were originally looking at chocolate brown leather, so anal sacs would not be an issue because if it stains, it wouldn't show up. But we love this set we found, just leary of the color and the dogs.
Part 2: Our dogs both lick EVERYTHING. The couch, ottoman, carpet, each other, us, company --you name it, they lick it. They lick the couch so badly, it leaves big wet marks and is now staining the couch and making awful fuzzballs all over it. They are literally ruining our furniture. Some may say not to let them on, but we don't mind. We like them with us. So that's not an option.
We can't get them to stop the licking and they are just getting worse! They have toys to chew on, they are getting plenty of exercise and are crated when we are not home. I think I covered most of the questions you guys would ask me?
Anyhoo, all and any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have both of your problems from my Bella.
We have a dark brown paisley couch and when Bella has "that moment" it is really hard to find....we have to use our noses. Resolve and Kaboom clean it up very quickly and dissolve the odor pretty good. I don't know about the color of the couch you are looking at.....it sounds like it may be a stain attractor..anal squirts or not (espeically just owning ANY dog).
As for the problem of not being able to "Hold Their Lickers", we just let them go.....I asked 2 Vets about this before. They said it is a gliche in their personalities and that all is ok....just annoying to humans. I wonder if you used alittle hot sauce or bitter apple on their tongues when they go near the more important areas, if that would help to remind them...NOT HERE. Maybe once you see them start for a area that is causing more of an issue, put a little on you finger and then in their mouth. Maybe they will get the hint?

I have the same problem with Phat E. - this is why you will notice that my couches are always covered with blankets or quilts, easier to clean up that way.  She licks and licks, usually her paws or her toys, but every once in a while she gets a bug and licks the couch or the bed, and US.

As far as the "squirts" - I prefer to call it "Gas with oily discharge"  LOL, Phats does that usually in bed, I have a Phat E. proof mattress pad on the bed, and everything else is washable.

I just bought new couches from Ikea, I got the "slipcover" sofas, this way everything can come off and be washed, and each individual piece has a cover, so it's not sloppy.  They were inexpensive, and rather comfortable, and I scotchguarded them prior to her highness being allowed to use them as her throne.

I will try the hot sauce thing with her and see if it works - she has an annoying habit of doing this at bedtime.  Thanks for the tip! Smiley

That sounds like a great idea with the hydrogen peroxide.  Best of luck with your product!

Basti likes to nip and lick every item he sees too but when we sprayed bitter apple consistently for three days on our hands, furniture pieces, shoes etc.... he just sniffs and stops. I am not sure if its for good but as of the moment he does not do this practice anymore.
