Gina!!!      Guess what,  last years drought was killer for many including me, inspite of my 300$ water bills.   I lost my 2 bloodgood maples last summer too. One was about 5 years old.  They just shriveled up and never leafed out this spring. It wasn't Maverick, it was that drought and heat. I also lost my two Amur Cherry trees last year for the same reason.

Mulch:  Out front I use some double shredded bark but every where else it's shredded leaves and grass clippings. That's shredded leaves under those trees.

Oh my, Chubbs is really cute!

You must be a Saint - you certainly have the patience of a Saint - I would have put on on my best Ninja outfit and dognapped him by now.

Dude, your garden rocks! I am one of those misguided souls that religiously read Sunset magazine and buy their plant recommendations only to have the plants come down with hitherto unknown maladies. I had a Meyer Lemon tree that was completely denuded of leaves yet the wood part lived on for 3 years  Embarrassed

With the money I spend on plants and supplies, I could keep a small nation going. I have learned that the only thing I can keep alive is Euryops which seems to have no requirement or preference about food, water,or sun and that Brugmansia is latin for tall sticks with big weird leaves.

I see Chubb's little baby tooth sticking up!!! How cute!!

Save yourself some time and go buy Garnick's Bitter Apples spray asap. That little tooth is going to soon be implanted in your ankle, wood moldings, chair legs etc. teehee!!

Yes, driving down (about 1250mile round trip) because I wanted face time with the breeder, parents and all the other bullies there. See how they're doing on SD and whatever else I can detect.

Especially after getting so many pointers in here.  Fantastic source but has also pegged my anxiety meter.  Wink

Isn't it typical and stupid - I'm this close ||  to thinking  "Chubbs?  Nawww, he'll be different and I'll train him and he'll never chew on anything"

That is good that you are going down.  And as for the chewing.  Maverick never chewed anything.  I made sure he had alot of toys to grind his little puppy teeth into.  I take that back he did chew one time and it was a good one.  My laptop power cord.  But I think he may of been jealous of it.

I hope that's figuratively and not literally  Shocked

I thought that was a picture from a gardening magazine until I saw the watermark. Thanks  Embarrassed, now I know what a Brug is supposed to look like. Are your flowers fragrant? I bought mine because the flowers were supposed to be fragrant but, of course, mine are not.

Sure that pic is mine. Actually it's from last summer. That particular brug is 'Peaches and Cream'  (or 'Maya').

Not all Brugs smell the same. A lot of them (like the one in the pic) has a light citrusy scent. When she has 60+ blooms open at once it can be detected without sticking your nose in it.  BUT,  you come visit me when 'Butterfly' or 'Harlot' is in bloom.   They can fill the yard and then some with their perfume but they don't release their fragrance until sunset.
