Yikes, I got the correct estimate for cherry eye surgery and for one eye it is b/t 1200-1400 dollars, not including the consult.  Of course, I had to mention that my fellow bulldog owners across the country have had it done for a better cost.  They didn't seem to care Angry  I live right outside of DC and all the vets in this area use South Paws in Fairfax, VA for more specific surgeries like cherry eye.  I have heard that all of their doctors are amazing, but I don't want to be hosed either.  Does anyone know of another vet that does this for a more reasonable price.  Baltimore is an hour away....we would be willing to drive.

I posted this before but I don't know if this is too far. We use Dr. Suzanne Rittler at Valley Animal Hospital in Reisterstown, MD.  She is currently out on maternity leave, but will be back in early September.  Their phone number is 410-363-2040.  We absolutely love her.  She is very cautious, very up to date on the newest and best procedures, and very knowledgable about the breed.  She sees like 5 or 6, in addition to my two, in her practice.  She has done a lot for us and really gone the extra mile.

There is also another bulldog vet who comes highly recommended, and he is is downtown Baltimore.  I don't have any experience with him, but the trainer at the day care that we take Carl to has a bulldog and she goes to him and loves him.  I also know of a special needs bully that he worked with as well.  His name is Dr. John Trujillo (I think they call him Dr. T) and his number is (410) 547-8385.

Good luck, please let me know if you end up going to either of them.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier.  My vet is Dr. Morgan at Georgetown Vet Hospital on M St, NW (202) 333-2140 - tell him I referred you - he is phenominal!  He has lots of Bully experience (w/ a host of specialists he refers out to - mostly in VA - for special problems).  To give you an idea of what he is like.  Prior to adopting my special needs Bully puppy, I informed Dr. Morgan of the Bullies problems - which are numerous.  By the time I adopted her and brought her in for her first appointment, he had researched her combination of ailments and formulated several treatment plans for me to choose from depending on what my goals were.  In VA, I recommend South Paws.  The local Bully rescue advocates for Dupont Circle Vet Hospital, which I've also heard good things about, although I've never used them.  I would not recommend Friendship for a Bulldog.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Aleetalynn

ok...the estimate for that surgery is completely insane.  i go to an outrageously overpriced vet who always charges double what everyone here pays. He charged me $400 for Auggie's cherry eye.

i hope one of these recommendations works out for you. i hate to see when vets take such huge advantage of their clients.

That incredibly high price came from Dr. Bromberg at South Paws.  Just an FYI.

OMG!!!  Dr. T in Baltimore charges $175 for the surgery.  Georgetown Vet is closed...I will try there tomorrow.  Thanks for the great referral.   Dr. T is going to call me tonight.  Hopefully, he can get me in soon.  Thanks again and I'll let you know how it goes.
