Lumpy's Mom!

« on: June 23, 2004, 07:01:11 PM »

Ok. I'm a little upset. There was a female bullie at our local animal control back in January/February. I saw her the day she came in and she was very aggressive. I was told that one of the kennel staff was going to adopt her when her time was up. I was at the center to get a heart from a dog that had heartworms so that the clinic where I was working could show people and educate them.
Anyway, Iwas told that she calmed down after being there for a few days. The kennel person did not adopt her and apparently bulldog rescue was full and could not take her. I was never called after I told them to call me for any bullies. She was euthanized. I just found this out today. I am so upset. I called the shelter today & spoke with the assistant director who is a friend of mine. She did not remember it, but has promised that I will be called from now on.
There is a bullie there right now that has to wait the required six days to see if it's owner will claim it. If not, I told them to call me & I will find a rescue for it.  I have already e-mailed Kim to see if she will be able to take it in if it is not claimed.  I do not want another life to be extinguished for no reason... Oh no!  That's such a sad story.  I hope that it was just an accident (that they forgot to contact you).  Good for you for making that call.  Keep yourself on their radar Smiley

Please let us know how this turns out.

Oh Brumzoo how devistating!!  That is so sad!
It was out of your control though, you did what you should have and trusted her fate with someone else who you trusted.  It's too bad it didn't work out how it should have.
I'm sorry Sad

Good news! The bulldog's owner claimed him. He had gotten out of the yard somehow.

The bulldog back in February was a mix. I tried to get her into rescue, but they won't take bulldog mixes. Unfortunately, her behavior was unpredictable, she was dog aggressive and at times people aggressive. Hopefully, her next life will be better than this past one. Cry

She sure didn't look like a mix to me. But, it is over now. Cry

Ok maybe I'm slow or something but it just occurred to me that you two used to work together and that a long time ago roosmom posted a poem from her friend trish who is brumzoo.  Wow - ok I'm slow but I always get there eventually Wink
