when nobody else cares, my bully still loves me

« on: June 28, 2004, 11:40:05 PM »

Well, tomorrow will bring another bully into my life. A 3month old female is coming down to me from New York. She has been ill, and a vet has been taking care of her. They're not sure what is wrong with her, but a student at the vet school where I work knows the vet in New York, and asked if I would be able to take her if she brought her down here. (the vet wanted her to come down here because of the surgeons that work at the school). So, everyone keep your fingers crossed that she has something that is repairable or medically managable. The vet in New York thinks that it is something with her esophagus, which doesn't give us a whole lot of hope that we can help her. If we cannot fix her, I don't want to let her suffer. So, please think good thoughts for her. I'll keep you all posted.

Well, the little one came today. I've named her Beulah, and she's very cute, however, she's very sick. She's spending tonight in the ICU in an oxygen cage. She's having a hard time breathing, as she has aspiration pneumonia, and a hypoplastic (very narrow) trachea. She may or may not have megaesophagus, we're still not sure. Right now, they're just hoping to get her through the pneumonia. She's a tough little gal though, so maybe there's some hope for her. Thank you all for your good thoughts. I'll keep you updated.

Sorry so long since the update. Beulah got to come home Friday night, but was getting worse Saturday morning, so she is back in our ICU unit in oxygen. The vets are not quite as optimistic as they were last week, so it's been a rough weekend. I'm just hoping she can pull through this. Thanks so much to all of you who are thinking of her.

Thank you to all for your good thoughts and wishes for Beulah. She took a turn for the worse, and this morning the doctors decided that we should put her to sleep before she suffered any more. Thank you again for your thoughts. She is greatly missed.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about Beulah.  She must have been a sweet baby to touch your soul.  She really was lucky to have the love you gave her during her last days.  She's waiting for you...........I will keep you in my thoughts and pray that you will find comfort in the love you shared.
Email me if you want to chat.
Take care,
Lissa

We are sorry to hear this.  The good news is that you gave Beulah some great final days with you and you did what was truly best for her.

I'm so sorry, Tina. I know that you gave her the best chance that she could have had. Call me if you need to talk.

Sorry to hear about your lose.

I lost Lord Ferris to the exact samething when he was 11 months old. I did everything I could with surgery and Rx but nothing seemed to work. In the end, the best thing I could have done for him was end the pain for him.

The only advice I have is to remember the time you had together as short as it may have been.
